The 3D concert extravaganza Justin Bieber: Never Say Never has turned out to be a great idea for Team Bieber. Given the Canadian-born pop star’s massive appeal and huge variety of promotional goodies bearing his image, it was only natural to hop onto the movie train. Given Bieber’s incredible backstory (rising from YouTube sensation to legitimate star), it’s a natural fit for the big screen, but it wasn’t enough. A lengthened and expanded Justin Bieber: Never Say Never will be debuting in movie theaters across the US and Canada starting Friday.
“I realized I had an embarrassment of riches when I was I in the cutting room,” said director Jon M. Chu, who polled Bieber fanatics on Facebook and Twitter for what they’d want to see in an expanded Bieber flick.
The end result was that fans simply wanted more: more of Justin’s friends, more performance videos, and footage from the film’s premiers. The new cut of Never Say Never is now 115 minutes and will be screening in 3D movie theaters throughout the United States and Canada starting this Friday. The film is being released by Paramount’s Insurge Pictures imprint.
