When it comes to therapy, the hardest part of the client/therapist relationship is establishing trust and openness. In order to get at the root of the problems, you must first foster a relationship with the client and get them to be honest about their problem. Sarah White doesn’t bother with any of that stuff; she inspires emotional nakedness via her physical nakedness. Meet Sarah White, the naked therapist, who uses the power of getting undressed to help clients with their emotional problems.
“During the sessions I use the power of arousal to let you gain more control over your life. The goal is to use nakedness so you can understand yourself and your world better, so you can feel great and powerful, and so the excitement you feel during the sessions can lead to more excitement outside the sessions,” explained Ms. White, 24, who practices in Manhattan. “For men especially, who are less likely than women to go to therapy, it is more interesting, more enticing, more exciting. It’s a more inspiring approach to therapy. I felt early on that something was missing from classical therapy, it seemed to encourage repression as opposed to encouraging people to open up.”
Shockingly enough, Ms. White is not a licensed therapist and her have not been approved by any therapy organization for use in the real world. Still, that hasn’t stopped Ms. White and her 30 clients, who pay $150 per session. Most sessions are conducted via text typing and one-way webcam, though some sessions do involve Skype and she has done in-person consultations.
