In a very bizarre twist to the classic Oedipal complex, a Florida man has been arrested for forcing his mother to stay in his room and watch movies with him—at ax-point.
Robert Tuttle, age 22, of Englewood, was arrested Thursday morning after threatening to kill his mother and attacking her with the ax. Tuttle’s mother, age 60, called police around 10 o’clock in the morning after escaping from her son’s room, where she had been held against her will. According to her, Tuttle had been drinking the night before and had become aggressive and destructive, before threatening to kill her and himself
Reportedly, Tuttle took a swing at his mother with the ax, which she avoided by taking a step backward. It was then that he forced her into his room and made her watch the movies with him, while he held the ax.
One has to wonder what he was making her watch—Showgirls? An Uwe Boll boxed set? Twilight? But I digress.
During the course of Tuttle’s arrest, Charlotte County Sheriff’s deputies found a sword, an expandable baton, and a baggie of marijuana in his room. He has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and false imprisonment, as well as two drug-related charges.
He is presently being held in Charlotte County Jail, with no bond.
