When it comes to cliches, nobody deals more in hackneyed words than Hollywood. Either movies are deliberately using cliches for comedic effect or they’re using cliches in a serious manner. Either way, if you watch a movie, you’ll see at least one or two clunky cliched lines of dialogue. Creative YouTube users have managed to create some great montages of movie cliches, and Mashable has the top 15 movie cliche supercuts. Warning: not all of these montages are safe for work, so make sure you’ve got your headphones on.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VuE_jqYNi3cI’m not sure how I feel about cliches in movies. I mean, most movies are driven by conversations and dialogue between characters, right? Well, most people use cliches liberally throughout conversation, even if they don’t know they’re doing it. Is being cliche a realistic way for movie characters to speak? Part of me thinks yes, but part of me realizes that it’s just incredibly lazy, both on the part of screenwriters and on the part of people who speak in real life.
That said, I love a good cliche, especially if I can use it at the appropriate, laugh-bringing time.
