Mother Nature continues to show a mean streak recently with the line of storms and tornadoes ripping across the Midwest, South and Atlantic coast. Death and destruction were left in their wakes.

I’ve been fortunate in my life to not be touched by such natural devastation. I haven’t even had a tornado take a hamburger like the man who lost his lunch in Mississippi last week nor have I had a chance to name a baby after a funnel cloud. I am definitely no Storm Chaser.
Having never lived through a twister, I can’t say for sure how I would react, but I’m guessing I wouldn’t be nearly as calm as Steven Hoag, who recorded video of a funnel cloud and the attached tornado approaching him in his truck in a Fred’s Food Club parking lot in Wilson, North Carolina.
In the video, you can hear him having a phone conversation with his sister. He describes the storm as it approaches saying it doesn’t look too terrible initially. Then the winds rip the roof off a nearby building and the debris fills the air and begins to pummel his truck. His voice never wavers or rises as he tells his sister he loves her and reassures her that he is okay. He does acknowledge that his truck suffered damage due to sheets of tin slamming into it.
