When it comes to road trips, there was only one way for John Belitsky and Dan Wuebben to travel.  Looking to do something magical, Belitsky and Wuebben met cab driver Mohammed Alam at LaGuardia Airport and negotiated a deal.  Alam would drive them from New York City to Los Angeles in his cab for $5000.  Road trip!

Belitsky documented the entire trip via his Twitter account.  The scope of the trip?  Well, the taxi traveled 2,448 miles one way over the course of six days, including a stop-over in Las Vegas (where Belitsky and Wuebben won $2000).  Belitsky and Wuebben are apparently now driving back to New York; Alam has a friend who will help him make the return trip to the East Coast.

As for Belitsky and Wuebben?  Well, as it turns out, $5000 is a bargain.  Had the meter been running the whole time, the cross-country trip would have cost $17,000.  Still, in the long run, $5000 is a bargain once you factor in the sheer epic nature of this trip.
