It’s a tough racket out there for crime fighters. There are criminals everywhere, so you need to be prepared to defend both your life and the lives of others. The police will help (occasionally), but they’re also usually not too hot on masked vigilantes fighting crime. It’s kind of a lose-lose situation; if you bring in a gaggle of criminals you captured, you might be in the cell with them if you’re not careful. Case in point: police in Petoskey, Michigan, arrested a 31-year-old wannabe crime fighter dressed like Batman.
According to the authorities, the comic book nut was found hanging from the top wall of a business in downtown Petoskey. Officers pulled him back inside the building and searched him, only to find a can of pepper spray, a collapsible baton, and some lead-lined gloves that are no doubt the tricks of his crime-fighting trade. He was arraigned on charges of trespassing and possession of a dangerous weapon and is being held in Emmet County jail.
Petoskey’s Public Safety Director, John Calabrese, believes the fake Batman “enjoys doing this.”
