When it was first announced, the Tesla Roadster made serious waves. A sports car that is also green? It seems illogical, but apparently Tesla was able to combine 0-60 in 4 seconds with 250 miles of range to create an electric super car, the first of its kind. Of course, it is $109,000, but if you want an electric sports car, you’re going to have to pay, and you need to order soon. Tesla Motors has announced they will stop taking orders for the Tesla Roadster in order to concentrate on the Tesla Model S electric sedan.
The Tesla Model S will retail for $58,000 and will seat up to 7 adults. The base model will have a range of 160 miles, while more expensive models will have ranges up to 300 miles, depending on configuration, battery power, and engine size. The Tesla Model S will debut in mid-2012 and is expected to sell up to 20,000 units in the United States.
The Tesla Roadster has sold 1650 cars since its debut. If you haven’t gotten one by now and you don’t think you’ll be able to get your order in before the deadline, don’t worry. For a mere $600,000 you can buy a Porsche 918 electric/gas hybrid sports car instead!
