It’s every basketball player’s dream. You travel to New York City and you hear David Stern call your name as the number one pick of the NBA draft. Only one person can do this every year; this year’s top NBA Draft pick was Duke point guard and do-it-all hoopster Kyrie Irving, who played only 11 college basketball games (not counting March Madness) but did enough to earn himself a multi-million-dollar payday. Who needs a college degree when you have basketball? Yahoo has a full round-up of the 2011 NBA Draft, complete with expert analysis.
Of course, Kyrie wasn’t the only guy drafted. Darren Williams went second, while Kentucky signee Enes Kanter was one of FOUR Wildcats drafted (Kanter, #8 Brandon Knight, #45 Josh Harrellson, and #53 DeAndre Liggins). National player of the year candidates Kemba Walker and Jimmer Fredette went #9 to Charlotte and #10 to Sacramento, respectively.
