Most people wouldn’t recognize the name Lauren Cohan, but fans of CW’s “Supernatural” will certainly recognize her face. Cohan is probably best known for her role as the self-serving thief Bela Talbot, who frequently annoyed the Winchester brothers in her quest for acquiring all things antique and occult, and more recently for her role as Rose, the undead love interest of “The Vampire Diaries” resident bad boy, Damon Salvatore. This fall, she joins the cast of AMC’s breakaway hit show “The Walking Dead” this fall as Maggie, daughter of farmer Hershel Greene—and a love interest for Glenn. (Steven Yuen has got to be thrilled by this news.)
Reading Cohan’s addition to TWD’s second season cast makes me wonder if AMC is slyly courting members of “Supernatural’s” rabid fandom and trying to boost “The Walking Dead’s” ratings even farther through the roof. It certainly can’t hurt. Let’s just hope Cohan’s Maggie fares better than Bela or Rose, both of whom met gruesome ends. At least the Walkers are slower than Hell-hounds.
