Hey, stop me if you’ve heard this before, but Tylenol Extra Strength bottles are being recalled due to contamination from the fungicide 2,4,6-tribromoanisole (TBA). No, I’m not repeating a story from 2009, Johnson&Johnson is recalling a February 2009 run of Tylenol Extra Strength 250-count bottles, bearing the UPC code 300450444271. The bottles are from lot ABA619. TBA causes a musty odor in Tylenol and stomach pains in certain individuals, but is otherwise harmless.
The newest recall covers 60,912 bottles of Extra Strength Tylenol pain medication, and it’s one of a host of recalled products from Johnson&Johnson over the last two years. Since 2009, Johnson&Johnson have recalled over 100 million bottles of Tylenol, Sudafed, Motrin, and Benadryl, making the products nearly impossible to find on store shelves.
Customers with affected bottles are asked to contact McNeil Consumer Healthcare at 888-222-6036 or to visit Tylenol’s website to get instructions on rebate or replacement instructions.
