The day was done, and a producer was returning the infamous Cash Cab to storage. For those not in the know, Cash Cab is a show in which a random cab has been converted into a mobile quiz show. While the driver drives, he asks questions of his passengers, and in exchange for their participation, they get a free ride wherever they go and whatever money they might win. Well, in the Canadian version of Cash Cab, a horrible accident happened to the cab and its producer/driver after the shooting day. While on its way back to storage, the Cash Cab hit and killed a 61-year-old man in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and his friends and his family. My heart also goes out to the driver of the vehicle, a member of our technical staff, who is shaken and devastated by this tragic accident, as is our entire team,” said a statement issued by Andrew Burnstein, president of Castlewood Productions. Castlewood is the company behind the Canadian version of Cash Cab.
Castlewood is cooperating fully with authorities; no charges have been filed in the incident, and police are treating it like a tragic accident. The name of the pedestrian killed has not been released.
