From the get-go, AMC’s “The Walking Dead” has been able to do no wrong. It’s set ratings records, been made into a video game, and has inspired a host of other fun things. Last month, we learned that the cast would be picking up new members, including “Supernatural” veteran Lauren Cohan.
And with last week’s release of the teaser trailer for the assuredly epic second season, fans are panting for the show’s return this fall.
But it seems that not everything can be perfect. The show hit a snag this week when showrunner Frank Darabont announced he was stepping down. Rumors abound regarding his departure, but there is no concise answer as to why he’s leaving. Succeeding Darabont is Glen Mazarra (of “Crash” fame), so it’s possible the show will be in good hands, but the news has a lot of fans uneasy, worried that “The Walking dead” will lose some of its edge and emotion.
Word has it that the second season is already mapped out, but it’s unclear how Darabont’s departure will affect fans’ perception of the upcoming season—and more importantly, its ratings.
