Anne Hathaway makes a purrrr-fect Catwoman.
One of the most important things about any super-hero movie is landing the look of the characters. Whether you’re reinventing old outfits or coming up with something completely new, a superhero has to look the part before anything else can be decided. When you’re dealing with iconic characters like Superman and Catwoman, well… if you lose the look, you lose the viewer. Two first glimpses of Superman and Catwoman have been released to the public. That’s Anne Hathaway as Catwoman from The Dark Knight Rises up above; that’s Henry Cavill as Superman in Man Of Steel down below.

When it comes to Hathaway, I’m going to have to reserve judgement. Anne Hathaway makes a great looking Catwoman, reminding me quite a bit of a young Julie Newmar. You don’t see much of her outfit, aside from the fact it is tight and black, and you can’t see what kind of mask she might have on due to the obstruction of those giant sunglasses she’s got on. Still, I like her as an actress, so I figure she’ll be pretty good no matter how she looks.
Then, there’s Henry Cavill. We see a lot more of his outfit in the still released by the studios, and I have to say it… it’s not good. The colors are too dark, the Superman S symbol looks like it is made of plastic and rubber and embossed on the outfit, rather than sewn on, and his hair is just… where’s the Superman spit-curl? He looks like he should be singing in Grease, not fighting crime!
