When it comes to famous chefs, there’s one foul-mouthed name that keeps coming up again and again. Gordon Ramsay, he of Hell’s Kitchen fame, is one of the best-known celebrity chefs in the world, and it’s his name recognition that makes him a hot property. Ramsay will be teaming with Caesars Entertainment for a string of three restaurants at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Apparently, these restaurants will be Ramsay’s in name only; he won’t actually run them.
“Ramsay and Caesars will brand a minimum of three restaurants including a pub/bar and grill,” said a Caesars representative, who emphasized that the restaurant won’t be owned by Ramsay or his shell company, Gordon Ramsay Holdings International. “The project will be fully managed and run internally by Caesars. Ramsay will have creative involvement, but not creative control, and make regular celebrity appearances.”
Well, I guess that’s good. After all, Ramsay has a reputation as a bad boss, judging by the way he drove a chef to suicide once. Still, there are some incredible restaurants in Vegas, so I don’t know why Ramsay wouldn’t WANT to open up a shop there. Granted, his London NYC restaurant failed, but that’s what restaurants do. They open, they fail, and the chef opens up another epic eatery somewhere else. Why not take the act to Vegas, baby?
