When the Cardiff Botanical Gardens installed the statue known as “Magic Carpet Ride” along Highway 101 in Cardiff-By-The-Sea, California, way back in 2007, they didn’t know what they were getting into. Over the years, the statue has been a frequent target for amusement-minded vandals, who last year had the Cardiff Kook attacked by a giant papier mache shark. Well, this time the terror didn’t come from below, it came from above. The Cardiff Kook was attacked by a giant pterodactyl over the weekend.
Fortunately, it wasn’t a UFO pterodactyl, just a standard prehistoric pterodactyl. You know it’s a dinosaur pterosaur because of the hand-painted backdrop, added palm trees, and the friendly velociraptors that showed up overnight to help create the scene for the Cardiff Kook’s latest adventure. It’s a pretty spectacular prank, all things considered; hopefully, no one gets in trouble for this particular incident, because it doesn’t appear to be causing any damage to the statue.
