Imagine taking a relaxing stroll on the beach when your jaunt is suddenly disturbed by the unlikely sight of a floating severed leg.
Or maybe I should have said likely sight.
For the 11th time since August 2007, a human leg has been discovered along the coastline of the Pacific Northwest. A few have been found in Washington, while the majority have been discovered north of the USA/Canada border. The most recent floating limb was spotted in False Creek, Vancouver. The remains included part of a lower leg with the bone sticking out of it. The foot portion was still clad in a tennis shoe.
There’s no need to fret about a serial killer though. Authorities believe there is no foul play involved in the grisly floaters. Their theory is that the socks and shoes preserve the human flesh encased within them, while the rest of the body is decimated by the water and the creatures within it including potentially a plastic-pooping sea turtle.
Two of the floating feet found in different areas in 2008 were identified through DNA as belonging to a man who went missing in 2004.
I think it’s very appropriate that these discoveries keep happening in a land renowned as the home of Bigfoot. If these floaters continue to wash ashore, maybe they need to create a creepy foot museum similar to the morbid Vrolik Museum.
