While we here in America celebrate Labor Day, people around the world are celebrating something different. Well, Googlers around the world are celebrating something different. Rather than bend to the American holiday, Google has decided to celebrate something different internationally while its Google Doodlers here in the United States are enjoying a long weekend. Simply check an international edition of Google. That’s right, gang; Google is paying tribute to the coolest front man in rock and roll music history, Mr. Freddie Mercury!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KX2BQM0D01MToday would have been the 65th birthday of Farrokh Bulsara, who rose to fame as Freddie Mercury and whose legendary voice shook the very core of rock music in the late 70’s and early 80’s. Unfortunately, HIV and AIDS cut short his life and led to his tragic death in 1991. It’s a shame, really; he had such an interesting life and such a unique gift for turning funny songs about bicycles and nannies into legitimately killer rock songs, and to think of that incredibly powerful voice silenced for good is kind of a bummer. I only hope Sacha Baron-Cohen is taking voice lessons for the upcoming Mercury biopic.
