For some people practical jokes aren’t just for April Fools Day. They are a year-round thing.
Irving Fishlove was one of those people. As son of the founder of famed novelty company H. Fishlove & Co., Irving not only made a living off of pranks, he also enjoyed pulling them himself.
That’s why when he was presented with a prototype of fake vomit, he loved the idea, purchased it and marketed it under the original title of “Whoops” in the late 1950s. Nothing is more startling than puke. Just ask the baseball fans who were assaulted by a barfing Phillies fan.
Collectors Weekly provides a history lesson and a tour of the factory where the latex glops of fake vomit are still being produced by the hundreds in a very low tech manner. It’s an interesting read and even reveals the secret of the “chunks” in the classic barf trick.
Maybe the TSA guys should have stuck with an old school prank like this instead of planting fake drugs on a traveler.
