Oh, will Serena Williams ever learn? In the US Open final, she was losing to Aussie Sam Stosur when Williams violated the rules by yelling during a point in progress. Rightly, the ref took the point from Serena and gave it to her opponent due to the hindrance rule, saying Williams hindered her opponent with the surprising shout. Cue the meltdown. Serena Williams is in trouble again after once again verbally abusing a chair umpire after a call went against her, calling chair umpire Eve Asderaki both “unattractive inside” and a “hater,” among other things. Here’s the disagreement that set off the angry tirade from the John McEnroe of women’s tennis.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNMSMq9VxV8“It’s the final for me, and I was just – I have to go – I guess I’ll see it on YouTube. I don’t know. I was just in the zone. I think everyone, when they play, they kind of zone out kinda thing. I don’t know, I’ll see it later, I’m sure.” Added Williams, who was returning to action after suffering a pulmonary embolism, “We live for these moments, you know. Everyone lives to be, you know, in the final of Wimbledon or the final at the US Open. Whatever happens in that moment, you live for them and we breathe for them, and hopefully I’ll be back for them.”
Serena needs to take a lesson from older sister Venus and express herself through fashion, not screaming hateful things at umpires like a spoiled child. Even John McEnroe learned not to do that eventually. Serena Williams lost to Sam Stosur 6-2 6-3 in straight sets. Williams is still on probation due to her 2009 US Open semi-finals melt-down against Kim Clijsters after a foot fault.
