Sean Duffy will be trolling his fellow inmates soon.
Sean Duffy had a hobby. He, like so many other people, is an Internet troll. Trolls are basically people who show up on YouTube threads, in forum or message board postings, or Facebook accounts for the express purpose of saying negative things, posting hateful comments, and generally being the Internet equivalent of a blister. Blisters hurt and are annoying, but they’re not usually dangerous, simply uncomfortable. Well, apparently Sean Duffy went too far when he started trolling the Facebook memorials for murder victims and suicides. Sean Duffy, 25, was sent to jail for being an Internet troll.
“I hope this shows other trollers they are not anonymous and will be caught if they continue their vile games,” said Andrew MacBryde, whose 15-year-old daughter Tasha killed herself by jumping in front of a train due to bullying at school.
Duffy was jailed in Reading, England, on a charge of sending malicious communications. Not only did he deface memorials and Facebook accounts, he also sent taunting messages to the relatives of his deceased targets, posted pictures of car crash victims, and created inflammatory Facebook groups. Now, if he does any of that, he’ll be doing it from behind bars.
