RuPaul will likely be shaking her head in shame when she hears about these outlaw drag queens.
A gang of drag queens that has been terrorizing Central Florida fabric and hobby stores was finally caught in the act. The unorthodox gang shoplifted thousands of dollars of merchandise over the past year. They weren’t stuffing stolen booze up their skirts, but they were stuffing feather boas into their purses.
The queens’ reign of terror came to a halt at Jo-Ann Fabrics in Orlando when staff at the store recognized the four men wearing make-up and women’s wigs when they entered the business. Knowing these shoplifters weren’t fat enough to get stuck in the door on the way out, they kept a close eye on their “customers” and observed one man stuffing his handbag with glamorous goodies. It must have been a huge purse because his haul included five packs of black feathers, two packs of red feathers, two packs of red lace gloves, two packs of black red lace gloves, eyelashes, five bra pads, five butt pads, five gel inserts as well as three handbags, two boas, three pairs of costume glasses and 10 bandanas. The staff confronted the quartet before they exited. The interaction was mostly peaceful, but one of the queens did threaten to “cut” a clerk.
“They were real upset when the police made them take their wigs off,” said Amanda Marshall, store manager. She added, “Oh, gosh, they could wipe out a whole section of boas in seconds…”
The trio of Demitri Marsh, 19, Renford Patterson, 18, and Antonio Webb, 22, were charged with retail theft of merchandise worth more than $300, which is a felony.
