Don’t believe the iPhone 5 hype, gang; as it turns out, Apple doesn’t even have an iPhone 5 ready to be released. Instead, Apple used their annual iPhone hype meeting to promote a new flavor of the current iPhone. Instead of getting the iPhone 5, we were given the iPhone 4S. It’s got a better processor (using the iPad’s A5 processor), has a better camera with HD video capability, runs on faster HSPA+ networks for improved internet access, the battery life has bumped up, and Apple has finally fixed the antenna problem.
So what’s the biggest (only) change in how the iPhone looks? Well, the iPhone 4S is going to come in black and white, rather than just black. The older iPhone 4 is still available only in black, so if you REALLY wanted a white iPhone, you’re stuck getting this year’s model at a premium price. Is the new digital assistant Siri worth the update? Well, that’s up to you.
The iPhone 4S will retail in the following memory specs at the following prices: the 16GB model is $199, the 32GB is $299, and the 64GB is $399. The iPhone 4 will now retail for $99. Of course, all these new iPhones require a contract with your local cellular provider.
