You don’t have to be a genius to know that your computer history can get you into trouble. Whether it’s an online infidelity or visits to inappropriate sites while at work (which may or may not include the word beaver), the computer can cause big problems if you don’t clear your incriminating history and cookies every once in a while.
That’s what a family in Eastleigh, England found out. A daughter, two granddaughters, a grandson and his girlfriend all earned convictions for attempted murder and other charges with some of the strongest evidence against them based on their Google searches. The source of the murderous gang’s attention was the wealthy 89-year-old patriarch of the family. It seems they couldn’t wait for nature to take its course and end the elderly man’s life.
Instead they cruised the Internet looking for ways to off their father/grandfather. Among their gruesome searches were “the easiest way to kill an old person”, “can you kill someone with a punch?”, “dangerous drugs for the elderly”, and “if you hit someone across the back of the head with a brick will they die?”.
Yes, they actually did use bricks to try to take out the man, who suffers from dementia. The mother earned the longest sentence of 17 years. The grandchildren, who are all minors in their teens, received varying sentences. No need to use brain scans as evidence. All the police needed was right there on their computer’s hard drive.
