Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are the brains and brawn behind 21 Jump Street.
When it comes to television series, no show has quite the cult following that 21 Jump Street has. It was created by Stephen J. Cannell way back in 1987, yet it has maintained a cult following thanks to it being the show that launched Hunter S. Thompson-loving Johnny Depp’s vampire career. Well, now it’s Jonah Hill’s turn to take the classic property and turn it into an action comedy as only he can do. MTV has a break-down of the 21 Jump Street trailer, which has apparently been a Jonah Hill passion project for several years. Who knew? Now, this red band trailer is for adults only, because it contains some dirty language, so you have been warned to put on your headphones.

In other words, it looks like an R-rated action comedy. Still, it’s nice to see the kids in the movie address the fact that Channing Tatum is obviously in his 30’s, and it’s great to see Ice Cube in just about anything. Jonah Hill’s 21 Jump Street doesn’t look great, but it does look amusing, and I’ll refrain from judging it too harshly until I see more trailers.
I mean, even at its worst, at least it’s not a spoof of the original series, right? I’d rather see a new property vaguely associated with the old than something that just mocks the old. It seems to have some wittiness, so it has that going for it.
