It would be easy to think that a man who wins a million dollars and then begins a long-term romance with a beautiful young woman who has also won a million dollars leads a charmed life.
Ethan Zohn might disagree with you.
The 37-year-old winner of the television show Survivor knows real life can kill you.
Zohn, after 20 months of remission, has announced that his cancer has returned. He says his girlfriend of 8 years, fellow Survivor winner Jenna Morasco, is dealing with the news well.
Not every person on a reality show has the bad reputation of Jersey Shore‘s Snooki and The Situation. Known as one of few Survivor winners who played admirably without back-stabbing and lying in order to win the big prize, the ever-smiling reality television star acknowledged that he is once again dealing with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The cancer has localized in his chest and he is currently undergoing a round of chemotherapy with a stem cell transplant in his near future.
Ever the good guy, Zohn says he still intends to run in the New York City marathon to raise money for and gain attention for his charity, Grassroot Soccer, which raises awareness of HIV/AIDS education and prevention. He has gotten the OK from his doctors to run the 26.2 miles. Maybe he can take some tips from the woman who gave birth just hours after completing the Chicago Marathon.
Hopefully Zohn will “Survive” and thrive after his treatments.
