A copy of Modern Warfare 3, sold at Kmart a week before its actual release date.
If you didn’t get your hands on one of the accidentally released early copies of Modern Warfare 3 that were sold at Kmart, then you’re going to have to wait a little while longer to start playing the latest game in Infinity Ward’s massively popular shooter. However, there’s still a chance to get an early look at MW3, assuming you’re located near one of America’s 2700 Walmart stores. Walmart is hosting a Modern Warfare 3 release party, complete with MW3 tournaments. The top prize, unsurprisingly, is a free copy of Modern Warfare 3, so brush up on your killing skills while you have time.
Walmart’s MW3 tournaments will be taking place on November 7, beginning at 8 PM and running until midnight (when the game goes on sale for everyone who didn’t win a copy). I suggest you hop into your Call of Duty Jeep and get to your local Walmart a bit early, as these tournaments should prove to be very popular. After all, Modern Warfare 2 broke sales records for Activision, and I’d imagine MW3 will also be pretty successful.
Here’s a complete list of the 2700 Walmart stores hosting Modern Warfare 3 release parties (PDF). If you’re lucky and got an early copy of MW3 from Kmart, then feel free to play it now; Activision has given the okay for the mistakenly-sold copies to go live early. Good luck with your eBay hunting!
