Joe Pa getting the bum's rush at Penn State?
The Jerry Sandusky child sexual abuse scandal may put an end to a legend. The Penn State Board of Trustees is currently said to be planning to oust legendary coach Joe Paterno at the end of this season over his role in covering up Sandusky’s rape of children. Penn State went 45 years without any major scandals, but the 46th season on the job has been a doozy for Joe Paterno and his family, who built State College, Pennsylvania, into a football powerhouse thanks to Sandusky’s defenses.
“I’ve lived for this place. I’ve lived for people like you guys and girls. It’s hard for me to say how much this means,” the 84-year-old Coach Paterno told a crowd gathered outside of his Happy Valley, Pennsylvania, home. “As you know, the kids that were the victims, I think we ought to say a prayer for them.”
Leave it to the coach, the man whose legacy is hanging on the line here, to put it all in perspective.
You’re right, Joe Pa. It is all about those poor kids. They were the victims, and you allowed them to be victimized. If indeed things were discovered about Sandusky in the 90’s and you let him hang around the program for 10+ years after the fact, then shame on you. You’re responsible for all those kids being molested as much as Sandusky is, and if the least that happens to you and yours is that you lose your coaching dynasty at Penn State and retire in disgrace, you’re lucky.
