In a pinch, you can use your grande coffee cup as a toilet.
When it comes to New York City, the Big Apple faces a critical shortage of public restrooms. However, for most New Yorkers, the public restroom of New York isn’t in the subway station or the bus terminal, but the big green monster. That’s right, Starbucks–due to its hundreds of New York locations–is NYC’s default public potty, but employees of said Starbucks stores are getting fed up. Some New York City Starbucks employees are putting up ’employees only’ signs on their restrooms in an attempt to restore bathroom order.
“I am continually amazed by what people will do when given a few square feet of privacy,” said an anonymous Starbucks employee on the unofficial gossip website Starbucks Gossip. “Why do you want to have sex in a bathroom? I think the toilet would be kind of a mood killer.”
Of course Starbucks, which has long prided itself on being a place where you can use the free WiFi while downing a gallon-sized cup of coffee, took to Twitter to deny allegations that its employees were taking the law (and your bladder) into their own hands. That said, the chain can’t be everywhere, and while a corporate crack-down has taken some of the signs away, not all of them are gone. Perhaps a compromise is in order: make the restrooms for paying customers only, or install pay toilets to fund the cost of the clean-up efforts.
