YouTube has long been more popular than broadcast television, but YouTube has never exactly been very well organized. It’s a mish-mash of videos and descriptions, with no real logical organization. Well, that’s ending. Taking a cue from Google’s other websites, YouTube is getting a much-needed redesign to place more emphasis on channels and trending videos. The reason for the new look, according to YouTube’s official blog, is, “we’re presenting a cleaner and simpler YouTube, with a consistent gray background, bigger video thumbnails and a more streamlined watch page.”
Here’s a video explaining the process.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-ajXnrpkioI’ve spent a little time browsing YouTube this morning, and I’ve got to say the new streamlined channel emphasis is going to make it a lot easier to keep up with some of my more consistent channels that I watch, like Epic Meal Time. I also like the new gray background, because it’s not as hard on the eyes as a bright white background. The larger thumbnails are also great, so that way you know what the video is going to be before you click on it (and know for sure it’s what you want to watch).
