When it comes to fantasy worlds, no one’s done it quite as well as J.R.R. Tolkien. When it comes to adapting Tolkien’s work to the big screen, no one’s done it quite like Peter Jackson. He’s the only person to pull off live action Tolkien, and he’s probably the only person I would want attempting live-action Tolkien (sorry, Guillermo Del Toro). Well, the wait is over; now the real wait begins. The trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has been released, and it looks stunning!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0k3kHtyoqcIf you’ll excuse me, I need a moment to catch my breath. Wasn’t that epic? I mean, the music was killer, Martin Freeman is going to be a great Bilbo Baggins, the comic relief was there, the whole company of dwarves looked great, New Zealand is the perfect Middle Earth, and… yeah, it looks like it’s going to be a perfect adaptation of a difficult work, and for a first part, it looks to be wildly successful.
The only bad thing about such a great trailer? The movie itself won’t be out until 2012! Not summer 2012 either, we’re talking December 13, 2012. Can I wait that long? No, no I can’t.
