Starbucks, it’s not just for coffee anymore.
That’s not the official new Starbucks slogan, but the company’s latest announcement, one year after changing its iconic mermaid logo, means the coffee giant is expanding the list of its liquid offerings. The world’s biggest chain of cozy coffee shops is going to begin offering beer and wine in a handful of its locations in Atlanta and Southern California. So in addition to the grande and the enormous trenta size, Starbucks customers can now order pint-sized drinks. So add a few more beverage possibilities to the 87,000 possible drink combinations available at Starbucks. Baristas will now have to learn how to tap a keg in addition to making magic with an espresso machine.
The food menu will also expand at these select locations as cheese plates and hot flatbreads will be available in addition to the normal scones and sweet treats. Maybe the chain should add beer marshmallows to its menu.
If the experiment works, Chicago will be the next city to have a Starbucks that sells adult libations.
As a person who doesn’t like coffee in any of its forms, now I’ll have an excuse to pop in and use Starbucks’ free wifi.
