When 49-year-old Evelyn Marie Fuller robbed the First National Bank branch in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, she had a pretty good reason. According to police, Evelyn Marie Fuller robbed a bank because she needed money to buy false teeth. The woman, apparently toothless, lives on disability and wouldn’t get the money she needs for teeth until she turns 50, and she couldn’t wait that long so she robbed a bank. Apparently living on a fixed income is hard for some seniors, which explains why gray-hairs are increasing knocking over banks and becoming cat burglars.
“During her confession, she stated she wanted to use the money to pay for dentures she was unable to get through welfare until next year,” said arresting officer Tom Ankrom.
After her arraignment, where she told the judge of her mental and physical health problems, Fuller talked about a meeting she had with her pastor, who told her she should tell the truth. Added Fuller, “I’m very sorry for what I did, and I know God is going to punish me for it.”
It kind of makes you wonder why this woman, who apparently has a church, couldn’t get denture money from her church’s charity fund. Seems like the kind of thing they ought to help out with. Fuller remains in jail after being unable to post a bond (which makes sense, because she can’t even buy teeth).
