I’ll admit I need to go on a diet. Granted I’m not as large as the world’s heaviest mother, but even she is trying to lose weight. I could stand to skip a few meals here and there, but I really can’t imagine missing two months worth of meals.
Skipping meals for two months wasn’t a diet plan for a Swedish man trapped in a snow-bound car. People snow mobiling came across the car near Umea and didn’t realize anyone was inside until they saw movement through a window. When rescue workers brushed away the snow (but not purple snow) and removed him from the vehicle he was so weak and emaciated he could barely speak. He did claim to have been stranded since December 19 with only melted snow to sustain him.
Doctors attribute the man’s survival to the cold temperatures and his body slowing down into a state similar to that the bears use to hibernate during the winter. Unlike the USA which only rarely is mostly covered by snow, this location just south of the Arctic Circle recently had average temperatures drop to 22 degrees below zero Farenheit.
