Of all the primary races in the run for United States president, there’s no day more important than the so-called Super Tuesday. Nine states held their primaries, including the important race in Ohio, and generally, Super Tuesday helps separate the wheat from the chaff and eliminate some of the weaker candidates. Well, Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich didn’t win any of the states on Super Tuesday; Mitt Romney took six states while Rick Santorum took three.
Most of the Super Tuesday states were pretty easy races, except for the battleground state of Ohio. That one came down to the wire. Romney ended up getting 38 percent of the vote to Santorum’s 37. That’s a tough defeat for Santorum, but it’s also a hopeful defeat since nobody ran away with the most important Super Tuesday state. But really, Mitt Romney is the one with the silver lining, according to his campaign.
“Nearly a week ago Governor Romney was behind in some polls by double digits. But Ohio voters responded to his pro-jobs and pro-growth message, and rallied behind him the days before the primary and helped push him to victory tonight,” said Romney spokesman Ryan Williams.
There’s a lot of Super PAC money waiting for the winner of this primary; they just have to hope the tough race will strengthen their campaign.
