Bear Grylls is the kind of man who can survive anything. He doesn’t need CDC tips to survive a zombie outbreak, and his sense of disgust is secondary only to his sense of survival. There’s a reason he comes out on top when it’s Man Versus Wild, after all. Now, Bear Grylls will be facing his toughest challenge ever: unemployment. The Discovery Channel has fired Bear Grylls.
The reason for the firing of the 37-year-old? Contract disputes. The next/least season of Man Versus Wild was canned last August, but there were two other programs that Discovery wanted Grylls to do. Grylls, for whatever reason, refused said assignments multiple times. Eventually, Discovery told him that his services would no longer be required (presumably because they’re replacing him with Les “Survivorman” Stroud).
Something tells me Grylls will be fine even without this job, considering his many successful books and his many commercial endorsements. Still, this is the kind of thing that you think will resolve itself in time, once everyone cools off a little and realizes how much money they’re leaving on the table by ceasing MVW.
