Officer Dion Anthony is accused of getting freaky in his squad car.

When it comes to police officers, the officer in question should always be on his best behavior.  That’s true when he’s off the clock, but it is doubly true when on duty.  On-duty police officers are always being watched, either by people around them or by the wide variety of surveillance devices in their patrol car.  Officer Dion Anthony of the Memphis Police Department found this out the hard way; the radio built into his patrol car caught Dion Anthony having sex while on duty.  Whoops!

“Rather than picking up the phone, we use what’s given to us with our consoles and microphones.  A lot of times it’s our life lines,” said Sgt. Karen Randolph, a department spokeswoman.  “Anytime you communicate via a handheld or console microphone you want to remain professional.  Our job is to make sure all officers follow procedures.  In this instance it’s possible he didn’t follow proper procedure.”

Anthony joined the department in 2007 and works/worked the 2-10PM shift at the Mount Moriah district.  The incident is now under investigation; sources have alleged that Anthony’s on-duty tryst was heard by as many as 35 officers, plus anyone with a police scanner.  However, that won’t be the end of Anthony’s troubles.  Since police recordings are public record, soon his on-air sexploits will be available with a simple open records request.
