Since Jersey Shore hit MTV in 2009, cast members have been drinking and partying for many years without much of a break. The show has crammed five seasons into a very short time span, and as the show enters its sixth season, it turns out that some of the cast are needing a bit of time to rest, relax, and detox. Among these is Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, who has apparently partied his way out of the gym and into a top-secret rehab facility. According to TMZ and various other online rumormongers, The Situation is in rehab.
Will this mean the end of Jersey Shore’s characteristic drinking and partying? Well, that depends on who you ask. The show is entering its sixth season of filming (which begins this summer in Seaside Heights, New Jersey) and Sitch, like a lot of the cast members, gets paid to party in the off-season as well as during the season. Maybe the 29-year-old just needed to give his liver a rest while getting his trademark abs into shape. Or maybe this season will be the beginning of a new Jersey Shore in which Snooki is a mother, Mike is the designated driver, and the other cast and crew start, gasp, growing up and acting like people in their late 20’s rather than people in their late teens!
Nah, who am I kidding? If the original Jersey Shore crew starts behaving like normal people and not like fools, they’ll be replaced by cast members from one of the spin-off shows.
