It took less than a week for Bobby Petrino to get his just desserts. The 51-year-old Arkansas Razorbacks coach is something of a coaching nomad, holding 15 jobs for 11 different programs in 24 seasons. Now, he’s got another short stop on his list. Bobby Petrino is no longer the head coach for the University of Arkansas Razorbacks, ending a successful tenure with the team that began in 2007.
Petrino was fired by Athletic Director Jeff Long, who said that Petrino “knowingly misled” his bosses while engaging in reckless and immoral conduct stemming from Petrino’s motorcycle wreck on April 1 and subsequent cover-up. Basically, he wasn’t fired for the affair, he was fired for hiring his alledged mistress Jessica Dorrell to a football job and lying to his bosses about her presence at the accident and her job with the team. Which, really, is appropriate. If anyone working in any job got his mistress a work position, they would probably also be fired.
Petrino, before leaving to coach for the Atlanta Falcons of the NFL, was the coach at the University of Louisville. He’s a great college football coach, but a terrible scumbag of a person. Just look at how he’s left his last few jobs; he’s going to elevate your program and win bowl games, but he’ll also do you dirty in the end. That’s just what Bobby Petrino does.
Is the winning worth the stink of scandal and misconduct?
