Remember when the United States Secretary of Commerce John Bryson had back-to-back wrecks and everyone kind of assumed he’d gotten away with drunk driving? Well, that’s not the case; unfortunately for Bryson, his problems are medical in nature. John Bryson has stepped down as US Secretary of Commerce after being diagnosed with a seizure disorder by his neurologists.
Apparently, Bryson suffered what is called a complex partial seizure while driving, hence the multiple accidents in a short time. Such seizures can cause temporary difficulties in isolated points of the brain, causing certain activities to cause difficulty without harming other responses such as speaking, walking, and other simple motor functions. Luckily for Bryson, his seizures did not cause any serious health complications or prove to be dangerous.
“In my personal capacity, I will continue to do everything I can to support the President and America’s businesses as they continue to advance innovation, U.S. competitiveness, and prosperity for our people,” said Bryson, a former energy executive from California. “Thank you for your many thoughtful and kind notes over this last week. It has been an honor and a pleasure to serve with you.”
