When it comes to cooking, anyone can do it. The dumbest caveman ever was able to burn meat on a fire to keep from dying of parasites, after all. But cooking with style, with grace, with forethought and the ability to combine elements to make a meal that pleases all five senses? That’s a talent. That’s something you can learn with time and proper teaching, and no one taught America how to cook quite like Julia Child. From her book Mastering the Art of French Cooking to her many cooking-centric television series, she was in many ways the first celebrity chef of the television era. Google is paying tribute to Julia with an epic doodle, but they have to work hard to top PBS’s incredible music video remix of Julia Child.

This is probably as good as Mr. Rogers, or maybe better since they use Julia chopping and whacking food to match the beat, which made me grin and chuckle every time it happened.
