Blame Canada. Literally, blame them for this.

Good news, Canada!  Your two most famous citizens are getting engaged!  Sk8er Girl pop-punk singer Avril Lavigne has been dating Nickleback lead singer Chad Kroeger for the past six months in a very secretive relationship; even by modest Canadian standards, the two have been keeping things very quiet.  Well, the Canadian power couple isn’t quiet any longer; like a tree being felled by the mighty beaver, this rock power couple has ripped the veil of secrecy off their relationship like the sleeves on a Canadian tuxedo jacket.  Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger are engaged to be married.

Kroeger, 37, first got together with the 27-year-old Lavigne in February, when he wrote a song with her for her album.  Apparently, their love blossomed over their shared history of mediocre to terrible music and stupid fashion accessories.  It will be Kroeger’s first marriage; Lavigne was previously married to Sum 41 lead singer Deryck Whibley.  Do you even realize what that means?  It means that for the first time ever, Chad Kroeger is an upgrade as far as musical husbands go!  Say what you will about Nickleback, but they’re better than Sum 41.
