The new Kindle Touch with Paperwhite display.
There’s a special event coming from Amazon. On September 6, the company has scheduled some sort of press conference/PR event in Los Angeles. The rumors are flying as to what it might mean, but here’s a good guess. A revamped Kindle Touch with a brand-new display, integrated lighting, a new color scheme, and more. Bolstering the belief that a new Kindle Touch is coming is the fact that Amazon has “sold out” of the current Kindle Touch, and considering Amazon makes the Kindles, it’d be tough to sell out of something you have an infinite supply of.
Dubbed the “paperwhite” display, Amazon’s leaked information promises “higher contrast, high resolution, integrated lighting, and eight weeks of battery life.” The integrated light is designed to compete with the Nook, which now has its own integrated light system. The higher contrast and higher resolution are no doubt aimed at the iPad audience, considering the new retina displays Apple is crowing about.
There’s another good question: will we also be getting a Kindle Fire 2 announcement? I sure hope so, because I kind of want to get my hands on one.
