The revolving door of American Idol judges continues to churn on. Steven Tyler is out, and Jennifer Lopez has followed him despite making a crazy amount of money to judge a karaoke contest. Seems like the two hadn’t been on the show that long, but they’ve already been replaced and as American Idol hits its 12th season, the star power in the judges chairs keeps getting cranked up. Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban are joining fellow new judge Mariah Carey and last remaining original judge Randy Jackson on American Idol.
Minaj and Urban will bring their respective demographics to the show: hip hop Republicans and country music fans/New Zealanders to the show. As for Carey, will she find her diva status challenged by Minaj? While Carey has been rumored to be upset by the fact that she’s not the only woman on the panel, she’s still the highest-paid reality show judge on television with a staggering $18 million dollar payday for a one-year hosting gig.
