Gerard Pique and Shakira are proud parents-to-be.

One of the biggest stars in Spanish music, the tiny blond belly dancer known as Shakira is expanding her empire.  Not only is she joining the cast of a hit reality television show, she’s adding to her list of many, many talents.  Joining that list is parent.  Shakira is pregnant with her first child; the father is her 25-year-old boyfriend Gerard Pique, who plays soccer with FC Barcelona and is a Barcelona native.

It’s interesting timing for Shakira’s pregnancy announcement, given the fact that she’s just now signed on for a seat in the rotating judge’s chair on The Voice.  Maybe she got the job with The Voice to continue working while pregnant, without all the strain of travel, singing, dancing, and all the other stuff the 35-year-old Colombian does during her stage show?

Or maybe it gives her some much-needed dry land between her and those dangerous sea lions.
