The 2013 Grammy Awards are here, ladies and gentlemen, and it’s proof positive that the music industry is more fractured and weird than ever. No one nominee dominated the awards like Adele did in 2012, but lots of artists dominated their various genres. Here are the 2013 Grammy nominees broken down by category. The nominees were announced during an all-star concert at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena and were hosted by LL Cool J and Grammy interrupted country singer Taylor Swift.
Six artists tied for the most nominations, with five apiece. They are Kanye West, Jay-Z, Frank Ocean, Dan Auerbach/The Black Keys, Mumford & Sons, and fun. The concert special, called The Grammy Nominations Concert Live!, was broadcast on CBS and featured performances by a bunch of acts, with Maroon 5 serving as the headlining act (and they also performed for an hour after the cameras went off).
This was the fifth year of the nomination concert, and the first year the event was held outside of Los Angeles. The Bridgestone Arena is the largest arena to hold the concert in the event’s history. This will be the 55th annual Grammy Awards.
