One of the most troubled folks in the music industry has ended her life’s struggle. Country singer Mindy McCready, who debuted with the 1996 album Ten Thousand Angels and immediately became a sensation due to her singing voice and the way she got her record contract–she walked into BNA Records in Nashville with a tape of herself singing karaoke and got signed on the spot–is no stranger to tragedy, but the final tragedy would be the one that ended her life. Mindy McCready was found dead in her Heber Springs, Arkansas, home from a single gunshot wound. Police say it was suicide.
It’s no surprise, really. McCready has had multiple suicide attempts in her past (July 2005 and December 2008) and a great deal of drug battles (a stint on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew and an overdose in September 2005). She’s also had a tumultuous personal life, with an affair with married baseball star Roger Clemens, a leaked porn tape, Still, she’s got two children (her youngest Zander was born in April 2012; his father David Wilson has also committed suicide), and you hate to see anyone deprived of a parent at a young age.
