One of the funniest bits of stand-up comedy from Lewis Black is the statement, “If it wasn’t for my horse, I wouldn’t have gone to college.” It’s amazing in its randomness, and it’s the sort of overheard snippet of conversation that can either drive you to laughter or tears, depending on your mindset. At one McDonald’s, a woman is saying, “If it wasn’t for my horse, I wouldn’t have gone to McDonald’s. After being refused service at the drive-thru, a woman brought her horse into McDonald’s in an attempt to get service.
The incident took place at the Bury New Road McDonald’s in Manchester. The woman initially tried to ride through the drive-thru, but McDonald’s workers wouldn’t serve her since she wasn’t in a car. Not one to give up easily, the woman then brought her horse into McDonald’s with her where A) she was still not served and B) the horse did his business on the floor to the disgust and consternation of the employees and other customers. That’s when the Greater Manchester Police were called to issue the woman a ticket and sort out the situation. I can only assume that she went home without her McDonald’s. I’d imagine she’s lucky the horse wasn’t turned into McDonald’s for her trouble!
Quoth a McDonald’s spokeswoman: “On 20 July a woman allowed her pony to enter our restaurant in Whitefield after being refused service in the drive-thru lane. The incident caused distress to customers and disruption for the restaurant, and the police issued the woman with a fixed penalty notice. The health and safety of our customers and staff is our top priority, and for this reason we are unable to serve pedestrians, bicycle riders or customers on horseback through the drive-thru.”
