With the beginning of a new team, there’s a new era. The former New Orleans Hornets are adopting a new identity, more befitting their New Orleans homeland. The pelican is the state bird of Louisiana, and fittingly, the basketball team will now be called the New Orleans Pelicans as of the next NBA season. A new city, a new name… it’s only natural that there will be new uniforms as well. Behold the new uniforms of the New Orleans Pelicans, ye mighty, and despair. Or rather, more accurately, be slightly bored.
These are the most boring uniforms ever. No cool mascot, no cool logos, nothing more than the name New Orleans and some white, yellow, and navy blue-ish shorts and jerseys. I do like the idea of the little belt logo thing, but I would have liked some kind of texture or… well, anything, really.
Maybe they’re trying to focus on the players, rather than the team. Even if they traded away Nerlens Noel, they do have Anthony Davis and Darius Miller and a bunch of other Kentucky players/other great players, so maybe they want people to pay attention to them.
