Facebook is the place where you go when you want to share information about yourself. Good, bad, indifferent, everyone takes up Facebook space to share the minutiae of their life, no matter how uninteresting or strange. Derek Medina, 31, took Facebook sharing one step too far. Derek Medina allegedly murdered his wife and posted the picture on Facebook. At least he wasn’t a troll about it?
Medina lived in South Miami, Florida, with his wife, 26-year-old Jennifer Alfonso, and their 10-year-old daughter (thankfully, the child is fine). Medina alleges that he shot Alfonso during a domestic dispute in which they argued, she hit him repeatedly, and eventually pulled a knife on him. Staggering, the picture was online for 5 hours before Facebook removed the photo; however, the photo is out there if you’re interested. Just search Reddit. It’s there.
After the shooting, Medina drove to see his family, tell them what he did, then he drove to the Miami police department and turned himself in. Medina’s last Facebook update reads: “Im going to prison or death sentence for killing my wife love you guys miss you guys takecare Facebook people you will see me in the news.”
